A Proud Community with a Colorful History and Excellent Schools
The Pemberton Heights Neighborhood Association works with residents of the community to enhance, protect and preserve the prestige, quality and character of the neighborhood. The association hosts social events throughout the year.
Part of the neighborhood’s charm is its history, including Pemberton Castle, originally built in the 1890s as a cylindrical water tower, which was then converted into a 4,000-square-foot mansion in the mid-1920s. It has been featured in numerous films, and (if the rumors are true) it’s currently haunted!
In addition to its prestigious location, homeowners are attracted to the neighborhood’s excellent schools. Students in Pemberton Heights attend Casis Elementary School, which is rated “Exemplary” by the Texas Education Agency, as well as O’Henry Middle School, and Austin High School, which received the well-regarded “Recognized” rating. There are also numerous private schools nearby, including Kirby Hall School, The Girls School of Austin, St. Andrews and the Khabele School. Austin Community College Central Campus and the University of Texas are also convenient to Pemberton Heights.
